Post-doctoral Fellow - Aging

Department: Genes & Human Disease - Freeman

The Freeman Laboratory (freemanlab.omrf.org/) at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on NIH and VA aging research projects that examine the role of epigenetic changes in the CNS and other organ systems across ages, between sexes, and with anti-aging treatments. The project utilizes transgenic mice with cell-type specific labeling that allows for advanced sequencing and bioinformatic techniques to examine genome regulation at the single cell-type and single-cell level. These projects also integrate animal behavior, biochemical assessments, and state-of-the-art cytometry and imaging. The lab environments is highly supportive of learning new including techniques for molecular biology, proteomics, epigenetics, and bioinformatics. The ideal candidate will be innovative, collaborative, and highly motivated who can work independently but also with other investigators of varied training experience.
The environment within the Aging Research Community at OMRF/OKC VAMC/OUHSC is rich with opportunities for students and postdocs. Aging research (Geroscience) is a cross-institution thematic priority and the program has grown dramatically in recent years through the addition of new faculty, the Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging (https://aging.ouhsc.edu), and the Geroscience Training Program (T32). Postdoctoral fellows also have opportunities to apply for independent funding and advance to independence through a variety of programs across campus.
