Development Scientist, Next Generation Sequencing

Working as a member of the NEBNext Applications and Product Development Department at New England Biolabs (NEB), this individual will be focused on the development of cutting-edge technology for next generation sequencing applications.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop next-generation sequencing sample prep methods, both by utilizing standard molecular biology processes and creating novel solutions.
  • Coordinate and support all stages of the transition of new products from development to product release, such as validating processes, establishing quality controls, setting launch dates, coordinating beta testing, writing protocols, and aiding marketing and business development groups in preparation of product launches.
  • Communicate with collaborators to troubleshoot problems, develop custom solutions, and generate new sample prep solutions.
  • Provide technical support for existing products.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Expertise in Next Generation Sequencing from nucleic acid extraction to data analysis.
  • Research and development experience with RNA-seq or epigenetics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Publication of original scientific work in high-quality journals.
  • Demonstrated scientific communication in both formal and informal settings.
