Post-doctoral Fellow - Aging Muscle

Department: Aging & Metabolism - Van Remmen

A Post-doctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Holly Van Remmen to study the role of oxidative stress, mitochondrial function and lipid signaling on neuromuscular degeneration in aging. Studies will utilize genetically engineered mouse models to study changes in the peripheral nervous system during aging and the impact on skeletal muscle mass and function. This is a mentored position for postdoctoral training. Incumbents at this level plan, design and conduct research experiments; manage research projects; prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation and future research; contribute to grant writing and are encouraged to write applications for fellowships. There is potential for qualified applicants to be accepted onto an NIA funded T32 training grant fellowship.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent degree.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous research experience in lipids or lipid signaling would be advantageous.
