What’s a Business System Analyst in our Technology division? As technology is ever changing, at Wellmark we are continuously working to stay at the forefront of providing innovative and new technologies to our members externally and internally.
What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include:
- Marketplace Readiness – Annual product portfolio changes are wrapped up in this project. Product decisions drive the need for changes in systems and technology. Team members are driving toward building a set of reusable requirements and establishing patterns for future changes in this project.
- Enterprise Data Management – Data is a critical part of all projects. These projects provide opportunities to collaborate across technology disciplines to elicit requirements, perform data analysis, and collaborate with business and technical teams to align project objectives and technology strategy.

This internship will start in May of 2021 and be onsite in Des Moines, Iowa or potentially virtually pending Wellmark's return to office strategy. Our focus will be on ensuring the best possible experience given the circumstances at the time; however, you should plan to be located in the Des Moines area for the summer of 2021.
Qualifications
- Current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student studying MIS, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Business Management, or related program
- Prior experience in a professional setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented, ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings
- Ability to explore alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties
- Ability to work independently and clearly communicate results of analysis activities
- Strong problem solving/trouble shooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative
