OTTO’s opportunity:
Our Director of Human Resources is responsible for organizational planning, organizational development, employment, indoctrination and training, employee relation, compensation, benefits, safety and health, and employee services for the entire company.
 
Specifically, the Director of Human Resources will:
·        Formulate and recommend Human Resource policies and objectives for the entire company.
·        Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale.
·        Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources function (e.g., OSHA, EEO, ERISA, Wage and Hour). Monitor exposure of the company. Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance. Approve all information submitted. Act as primary contact with labor counsel and outside government agencies.
·        Protect interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations. Approve the recommendations for terminations. Review employee appeals through complaint procedure.
·        Direct a process or organizational development that primarily addresses succession planning throughout the company. Coordinate activities across department/division lines. Evaluate plans and changes to plans. Make recommendations to senior management.

·        Establish wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs. Monitor for effectiveness and cost containments.
·        Establish standard recruiting and placement practices and procedures. Review variances to schedules. Interview salaried and executive level candidates.
·        Establish in-house management training programs that address company needs across department/division lines (e.g. Performance Appraisal, Interviewing, etc.)
·        Define all Human Resources programs, and authority/responsibility of Human Resources and line management within those programs. Provide necessary education and materials to line management and employees-workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, standardized report.
·        Oversee implementation of programs through Human Resources staff. Monitor administration to standards. Identify opportunities and resolves discrepancies. 
·        Select and coordinate use of Human Resource consultants, insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administrators, training specialists, labor counsel, payroll services and other outside sources.
·        Prepare and execute, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit programs. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
·        Conduct a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep top management informed of new developments.
·        Direct the preparation and maintenance of such reports as are necessary to carry out functions of department. Prepare periodic reports to top management, as necessary or requested.
·        Keep a supervisor informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of objectives, and those which are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
·        Foster and create good community and public relations. Develop positive relationships with other area HR Directors and VP’s. Communicate OTTO news and happenings to the public.
·        Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
 
What you’ll need to bring to the table:
·        Bachelor’s degree required.
·        8 - 10 years previous Human Resource Management experience.
·        Minimum 3 years recent experience.
·        Good communication skills.
·        Good reasoning abilities. Sound judgement.
·        High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
·        Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, flexible.
·        Ability to establish credibility and be decisive – but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
