Director, Technology Solutions Advancement

Job Purpose
This role is responsible for leading ELCA technical continuous improvements, digital and application development, financial applications, constituent relationship management (CRM), collaboration, application integration, and enterprise systems analysis/administration. This is a role reporting to the Executive for Information Technology and includes management of various groups of technical roles including enterprise application development, digital solutions development, enterprise systems analysis, application configuration, system / data integrations, and application administration.
This position will manage and assure the high-quality development/configuration of ELCA enterprise systems, websites, web applications and data driven applications against set ELCA agile product development and operations protocols. Supervise the support and maintenance of assigned technology products. Analyze current trends and suggest the future direction of Internet and Intranet development for the ELCA. Responsible for providing technical direction and standards to agile development teams in scheduling, planning, design, architecture, and testing.
Job Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership, direction and oversight to Technology Solutions Advancement team, including work assignments, prioritization, backlog management, project status and operational status.
2. Develop/maintain consistent, repeatable enterprise systems management processes, product backlog fulfilment, development standards, stable enterprise systems, systems analysis, reporting and transition to operations.
Defines the approach to ensure that a high quality of information and value is delivered from the integrated application ecosystem including all levels of testing, queries, reports, entry protocol and additional functionality, working as necessary with IT staff, churchwide staff and ELCA constituency.
Set and maintain policies and procedures for source code maintenance, continuous integration, delivery and deployment. Ensure 100% compliance by team to all set policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with ELCA agile product management and operational procedures.
3. Lead and collaborate with developers, engineers, system operators and other IT staff members to deliver and manage continuous improvements. Create a cross-functional collaboration between development, engineering, configuration, testing and operations teams and keep existing infrastructure in mind as they design, plan and test.
Work collegially with product management to allocate resources on scrum teams to maximize value of prioritized product improvements.
This includes strategic planning, monitoring, and reviewing innovative solutions on an ongoing basis with a focus on overall architecture, user experience, quality and process improvements or re-engineering to ensure that these solutions meet the organization / unit / constituent needs.
4. Managing enterprise application development & operations. This includes overseeing system configuration, customization, and working collaboratively with the organization to identify additional technical solution needs aligned with organizational strategies, goals and objectives.
5. Identify and report gaps for improvements in current products & procedures.
6. Act as escalation point when staff need assistance, an issue or a conflict needs decision management.
7. Other duties as required.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and see. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. Experience and Skills:
1. 10+ years of experience managing IT functions.
2. Strong agile product development and operations in an enterprise environment.
3. Experience managing a variety of SDLCs including Waterfall and Agile
4. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively with a variety of internal and external clients. Ability to present technical concepts in accessible language. Ability to collaborate with analysts and programmers to develop Web-based applications.

5. Business Intelligence/analytics, digital, financial, collaboration, and CRM systems knowledge
Preferred Skills
1. 15 years of experience managing IT teams/functions, including solution development and operations
2. A four-year degree preferred with study in Computer Science or equivalent work experience and training

CSM Certification
