Postdoctoral Fellow - Wu Laboratory

One postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Ning Wu at Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids, MI.

The Wu Laboratory studies glucose and lipid metabolism in metabolic disease and aging, particularly how diet affects inflammation which plays a role in development of many diseases. The lab is ultimately interested in identifying early signs of metabolic dysfunction to delay or prevent age-related health issues such as diabetes, neurodegeneration, and cancer. We use many different systems and techniques in our studies: genetic models, tissue culture, genomics, metabolomics, biochemical assays, and protein structural analysis.

The candidate should have significant experience in cellular signaling and metabolism, should be familiar with techniques including tissue culture, western blot, qPCR, cloning and immunoprecipitation. There are different project options available depending on the candidate’s interests and strengths. These include but not limited to:
  1. Origin of diet induced inflammation in adipose tissue
  2. Novel glucose regulated transcriptional programs in liver
  3. Mechanism of regulation on fatty acids shuttling in liver and its role in ER stress
