Temporary ALP Math Teacher

Ames Middle School is seeking a temporary ALP Math Teacher for the 2021 spring semester.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Ames Community School District is to ensure that all learners develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and personal esteem necessary to grow in and shape a changing society.

WORK SCHEDULE: 7:30 am-3:30 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Offers supplemental instruction for students who can benefit from additional learning opportunities focused on mathematics.
  • Carries out ongoing assessment of reading needs and maintains student achievement records.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to select students for the program.
  • Keeps parents, administrators, district, and community informed about the mathematics programs/strategies in the school.
  • Works with students to improve academic skills and strategies.
  • Assists students to complete school work and in preparation for success at the high school level.
  • Participates in regular professional development to improve personal knowledge and skills.
  • Attends work on a punctual and consistent basis.
  • Performs other related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • BA in Education required
  • Valid Iowa Teaching License required
  • K-8 Mathematic endorsement required
  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Observe all District policies and procedures
Essential Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds
  • Frequent standing
  • Occasional bending, squatting, or sitting
