Cybercrime Investigation Intern

Description

We are looking for a part-time and/or full-time research intern for our Cyber Threat Prevention Project, for Spring and Summer. This is an unpaid remote position.

The amount of cyber threats to the critical infrastructure sectors has been steadily increasing in the midst of the pandemic, as threat actors continue to exploit the stresses imposed by the global crisis. Our project is devoted to notifying over 450 subscribed customers (primarily healthcare) about the most prolific cyber threats.

We are looking for an aspiring, motivated, and self-organized researcher who will engage in analyzing and producing short intelligence reports on subjects such as prolific data breaches, cyber intelligence tradecraft, fraud schemes, nation-state threats, and ransomware syndicates.

Extensive training and instructions will be provided by the members of our intelligence team. We emphasize an investigative mindset, the ability to write concise and clear business reports, and high levels of initiative.

Prior technical skill is not required.

This is a great opportunity to immerse into an actual security environment and receive extensive knowledge, skill, and in-depth field experience in the area of cybersecurity, cyber intelligence, and fraud investigations. Additionally, we encourage researchers to publish within our blog on subjects related to cybersecurity, politics, governance, and international affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Produce succinct and analytical intelligence reports regarding prolific cyber threats on a weekly basis.
  • Review and edit reports produced by other members of the intelligence team when needed.

  • Ability to write concise clear business reports.
  • Interest in the area of cybercrime and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language is a plus.
