Agronomy Sales Intern

Viafield is currently seeking an Agronomy Sales Intern! Do you have a desire to research and learn more about Agronomy and crop management? Do you display a strong desire to work with customers and sales? Then you may be right for this opportunity.

Viafield is offering a 12 week paid internship to a qualified and motivated individual who will be responsible for learning our retail agronomy business, acquire experience understanding field management and operations while completing special projects. This internship may be performed at a number of our locations but primarily reports to our Northwood, Marble Rock, or Randalia facilities.

Requirements
Essential Functions

Learn and research areas of agronomy, precision farming, corn and soybeans
  • Assist agronomy team in scouting fields, on-farm sales, and customer service calls
  • Analyze insect crop protection methods, fertilizer applications, insect management, etc.
  • Learn retail agronomy business, management viewpoints, and attend sales meetings

Conduct special projects for Agronomy Team
  • Coordinate seed plots for grower plot days
  • Works with the local agronomist on numerous agronomy supported activities
  • Responsible for an overall assigned sales/research project in conjunction with other company research initiatives including but not limited to taking pictures, sampling, and gathering data
  • Present findings to Viafield agronomy sales group and Senior Leadership Team at completion of project

Interact with growers
  • Working with farmers within our trade territory to better understand their needs and how Viafield can support their operations.
  • Work in a safe & efficient manner according to Viafield safety policies
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Assist other locations, as needed

Qualifications
  • Must be pursuing an agriculture related degree or certification at a 2-year community college or 4-year college or university with the status of freshman, sophomore, junior in good academic standing at time the internship begins.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel independently and/or overnight as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
  • Frequently required to lift 51-70 pounds as needed.
  • Frequently exposed and required to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, etc.), as well as working at various heights or elevated platforms.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on Viafield policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
