Direct Support Professional - Virtual Vocational Specialist/Job Coach

We currently have an opening for a full-time Vocational Specialist or Job Coach. This person will support our Virtual Employment Services as well as provide in-person job coaching to people who have disabilities in the Twin Cities & West Metro areas in Minnesota.
Virtual:
- In-person work for this position is required in the Twin Cities & West Metro areas in Minnesota
- This position will develop and implement lessons focused on employment development and career exploration. This is a unique service for individuals who are exploring their job strengths and creating plans for future employment
- Online classes are held in a group setting and on an individual basis
In-person:
- In-person employment services provide support to people actively working in the community to maintain long-term job retention and success
- Coordinate volunteer opportunities to enhance client’s work skills and build work experience
This position will work closely with our Vocational Immersion Program (VIP) in Golden Valley, other Virtual Employment Services staff, and our VIP Program Director to continually evolve our programming.

Full-time:
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour shift between 7 AM – 5 PM (exact times somewhat flexible)
- 40 hours per week
- Starting pay is $13.25 - $14.25 per hour depending on experience

- Work is a combination of in-person and virtual. Virtual work may be completed remotely, or at one of our agency sites
- Technology for virtual classes (laptop, webcam, etc.) will be provided

In this position, responsibilities include
- Providing direct support for people with disabilities
- Implementing positive support strategies
- Managing your own caseload
- Advocating for individuals on your caseload and helping them make choices and problem solve
- Supporting individuals to achieve their goals
- Collecting data, documenting and creating progress reviews and outcomes
- Attending monthly team meetings (currently virtual)
- This position does not require you to transport clients
Requirements
- Experience working with people with disabilities preferred
- Prior work in any of these industries is a plus:
- Coaching/tutoring
- Teaching/education
- Retail, customer service & food services
- Must be able to pass a background check with the Minnesota Department of Human Services
- Basic technology skills required, including the ability to set up and host a virtual meeting, navigate a tablet app, do basic data entry, and use the Microsoft Office 365 suite (Outlook email, Calendar invitations, Word documents, etc.). Hands-on training and learning resources in these areas are provided, but must know the basics and be open to learning more
