Our company works with many biotech client, large and small, to develop and deliver new bioprocess technologies. Projects range from pharmaceutical to novel foods to renewable biochemicals and fuels. We are looking for experienced, creative engineers that enjoy learning new processes and are passionate about translating innovations into commercial enterprises.
Expected duties will include:
- Review, understand, interpret, and challenge process and research data.
- Develop flowsheets (BFD, PFD) and debate the merits of alternative solutions.
- Design and review P&IDs in partnership with our mechanical and drafting team.
- Use Aspen Technologies software to simulate processes (Plus), design heat exchangers (EDR), and estimate capital costs (ACCE).
- Build techno-economic analysis (TEA) models with statistical evaluations such as Monte Carlo.
- Support client piloting activities at contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
- Design process equipment and work with vendors through the procurement process.
- Assist operating facilities with troubleshooting, optimization, and expansion (debottlenecking) studies.
- Travel up to 25% for client meetings, piloting trials, and startup assistance.
- Communication: regularly write and deliver technical reports, maintain strong client and partner relationships through clear, friendly communication, and go the extra mile to keep the teams working productively.
- Development: actively develop your skills and those of your teammates by attending and leading training sessions and industry conferences. Know-how is our trade.
- Guide and review the work of junior employees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Closely Related Field
- 3+ years of industrial experience post-graduation in bioprocessing (does not include graduate research)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree in chemical engineering or management
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
