SUMMARY
 Responsible for planning and procuring supplies, raw materials, services and equipment required to support manufacturing in a fast-paced environment. Supply chain activities using sound ethics and business practices.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain sourcing strategies
  • Develop suppliers, maintaining relationships and communications, and coordinating projects related to products, pricing, quality, inventory, audits and risk mitigation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and quality to determine best materials in most cost efficient and timely manner to support planning and production
  • Select and/or recommend suppliers based upon analysis and monitor their performance
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain pricing and purchasing strategies
  • Review supplier bids/quotes and negotiate terms to ensure lowest cost of acquisition, including price, delivery, quality and responsiveness
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain stocking strategies
  • Collaborate with inventory department to improve inventory control principles, processes and the impact of inventory to the financial health of the company
  • Develop ways and means to maximize buying efficiency and minimize risks
  • Develop and manage analytical tools as needed
  • Communicate market trends, identified risks and strategic developments with senior management
  • Process orders, change orders and order acknowledgements as needed using MRP system and related ancillary data sources and analyses developed for this activity, including other databases and spreadsheets
  • Maintain records and systems consistent with a professional approach to purchasing activities. Drive ERP utilization and health as catalyst to business performance.
  • Participate in process improvement activities, Kaizen, Sigma Activities and other special projects as assigned
  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Manage team of direct reports to coordinate purchasing activities. Direct Reports can be across multiple facilities.
  • Instruct and train direct reports in strategic initiatives to drive results and coach team for strategic development and growth
  • Encourage team collaboration between functional departments and development

  • Extensive and specialized knowledge of commodities, market pricing, and purchasing practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in both oral and written form
  • Professional appearance and attitude. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with suppliers
  • Self-directed with effective decision-making skills and judgment resulting in positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated ERP, MRP and computer skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a high pace and responsive environment.
  • Possess a sense of urgency to meet customer expectations
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Materials or Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible purchasing or materials experience in an electronic manufacturing environment
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain industry certifications as applicable to position and value stream that is supported. 
Preference for Apics Certifications.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Spanish beneficial.
