Program Analyst (Space Operations)

Note: This position requires a recent graduate (Feb 19 - Feb 21), minimum GPA 2.95, U.S. citizen, and a science or engineering degree.

About this Job
The Mission of the 30th Space Wing (30 SW) is to enable space superiority through assured access to space by providing robust, relevant, and efficient spaceport and range capabilities for the Nation. The Program Analyst (General Engineering) position is in the Wing's Plans and Programs office. You will be part of a team of experts responsible the overall support and execution of launch and range operations. You will interact with a wide group of government and contractor agencies to execute the mission.

Duties typically include:
1.) Performs Space Operations developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established and a number of specific guidelines exist. Works assignments consisting of a series of specific and related tasks have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic occupational principles, concepts, and techniques. Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills and techniques in Space Operations occupation.  Space operating systems, programs and activities include, but are not limited to: Satellite Communications, Satellite Operations, Space Surveillance, Space Launch, NASA Operations, Global Positioning System, Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, Space-based Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Orbital Safety and Space Vehicle and astronaut recovery.
2.) Performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures for application, and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Develops documents and implements plans and procedures for Space Operations requirements. Analyzes and evaluates routine issues/problems that are encountered and resolves them.
3.) Performs developmental assignments to Space Operations in support of organizational/operations environment and customer needs. Works with other experienced Space Operations specialists and analytical operation personnel in planning and conducting special initiatives, studies, and projects. Assists in preparing reports and briefings outlining study findings and recommendations. Assists in utilizing current practiced technology and Space Operations principles to develop or adapt methods and capabilities to subject matter requirements.  Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to maintain current in the field and for application to work assignments.
4.) Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include briefings, newsletters, reports, letters, and responses to routine inquiries. Uses software such as word processing, spreadsheets, program language, plotting software, etc., to facilitate work.

Students must be U.S. citizen, have a minimum GPA of 2.95, have a BS/MS in a STEM related area (best qualified candidates will have an Aeronautical or Space degree), and have graduated within the last 2-years.
