New Graduate Nurse Residency - RN, (Spring/Summer 2021)

Our Nurse Residency Program is based on the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Transition to Practice model and all new graduate BSNs and ADNs hired at Saint Luke’s Health System participate in this program. Participating in the Nurse Residency Program allows you to build clinical competency and professional practice behaviors throughout your first year as an RN. 

We are here to support our New Graduate Nurses so as part of this 12-month program, you will be paired with experienced nurses and clinical educators. Your preceptor will work closely with you during the orientation period to help you adjust to your unit. Mentors and facilitators will assist you in your professional development and help you become more involved with Saint Luke’s Health System and its nursing shared governance.

This program is adaptable and is continuously optimized to meet the demands of patient care. Our leadership is heavily involved with the program giving you exposure to leadership who is committed to your success. Our residency program will provide you with a supportive community of peers, leadership, and mentors to allow you to begin your transition to becoming the best nurse you can be. 

In this position you will be accountable for utilizing the nursing process. You will be responsible for performing patient care, delegating patient care tasks and for supervision of other patient care staff. You will have the opportunity to be responsible for coordinating the plan of care for a group of assigned patients and consulting with other members of the health care team when indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This clinical nurse demonstrates proficiency and abides by policies rules guidelines and procedures. 

This position will allow you to: 
·    Transition from entry-level nurse to a competent professional. 
·    Develop effective decision-making skills. 
·    Develop strategies to incorporate sources of evidence-based practice and process improvement and present to peers. 
·    Develop clinical leadership skills at the point of patient care. 
·    Formulate an individual career plan to promote a lifelong commitment to professional nursing.
