Research Assistant - Nathan S. Kline Institute

Applications are currently being accepted for a 2-year Research Assistant position to work on the NKI-Rockland Sample Research Program (NKI-RS) at the Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) in Orangeburg, NY.
 
The Nathan Kline Institute fosters a collaborative environment where research assistants have the opportunity to gain excellent clinical and research experience. 
 
The NKI-RS is a large-scale (n>1,300), open-science, research program focused on understanding brain maturation and brain health, and mental health relationships across the lifespan utilizing innovative MRI- and EEG-based imaging approaches and in-depth clinical research assessments.  Additionally, the NKI-RS is an open-science data resource for researchers worldwide and contributes to open data-sharing initiatives, such as the 1000 Functional Connectomes Project and the International Neuroimaging Data-sharing Initiative. http://fcon_1000.projects.nitrc.org/indi/enhanced/
 
Responsibilities for this new NKI-RS study, to start in late summer 2021, include in-person and remote data collection measuring a variety of dimensions including brain imaging, mental and physical health, and cognition. Additional responsibilities include study recruitment, scheduling, data entry, and data management. We provide research assistant positions that are an excellent stepping stone for highly motivated candidates who plan to pursue graduate programs in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or medicine. 
 
Applicants should have a B.S. or B.A. in psychology, neuroscience, biology, social work, or related scientific fields. Interviews are typically conducted in the spring for positions that start in the summer or fall after graduation. However, we accept applications on a rolling basis and have position openings at other times based on grant funding start dates and research staff transitions.
 
The ideal candidates will have prior human subject research experience, strong interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication, and the ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently. 
 
Anticipated salary is 37K to 40K depending on experience, and benefits include health, vision, and dental.

Qualifications:
• B.A. or B.S. in psychology, neuroscience, biology, or other related scientific field
• Preferred prior research experience
• Looking for highly motivated candidates looking to gain cognitive neuroscience and clinical research experience in a fast-paced learning environment
• Weekend work is required
• Access to a vehicle is necessary
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with R or Python is a plus, but not required
• Strong written and oral communication
