Research Technician I-II, Lehrbach Lab

Responsibilities

The technician will contribute to research projects in the Lehrbach Lab involving C. elegans genetics, cell biology and molecular biology. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate looking to gain research experience before pursuing graduate and/or medical school. Tasks include:
  • DNA extraction
  • DNA sequencing and analysis
  • Preparation of next generation sequencing libraries
  • Carry out and interpret PCR genotyping assays
  • C.elegans husbandry and microinjection
  • General lab maintenance and organization
  • Participation in lab meetings and journal clubs


Qualifications

  • Research Technician I - Requires a BA/BS, preferably in biological sciences, and independent research experience outside of laboratory course work.
  • Research Technician II - Intermediate level position requires a BA/BS and 2+ years’ experience working in a laboratory. Independent research experience outside of laboratory course work is required.
  • Experience with genetics, molecular biology, cell biology or with genetic model organisms is preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
