Summer Analyst

Position: Analyst Intern

Summary

Skybox Capital is an investment firm based in Chicago. The founders of the firm were the founders and former co-CEOs of a multi-billion-dollar e-commerce marketplace business and have had long and successful careers as entrepreneurs and business leaders. The fund seeks to build a concentrated, high performance and long-term investment portfolio of control investments in consumer internet companies, including e-commerce, marketplace, digital media, and related software and services, and non-control investments across a variety of sectors and asset classes.

The Analyst Intern will have the opportunity to join an entrepreneurial environment and work on projects directly with leaders of the firm. We are a very lean team where the Analyst Intern will be given a significant amount of responsibility and will be expected to contribute immediately to value creation initiatives. A successful Analyst Intern will have the ability to operate independently and be motivated to learn and grow in a small team environment.

Primary Responsibilities
·        Assist in building a fundamental research database of companies and industries.
·        Gain exposure to the firm’s process for analyzing and investing in debt and equity investments.
·        Assist investment team members with financial modeling and business and industry analysis on potential investment opportunities in both private and public markets.
·        Participate in the due diligence process, including industry intelligence gathering, public company research and other underwriting processes.
·        Proactively take on new opportunities, identify process improvements, and add value without direction from senior professionals.
·        Clearly and effectively present analyses or results, verbally or in writing.

Qualifications
·        Working towards a BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or other business major from a top undergraduate institution.
·        Demonstrated passion for investing and interest in software, technology and e-commerce.
·        Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and valuation.
·        Superior strategic thinking and financial analysis skills, well-developed problem-solving skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
·        Strong spreadsheet (MS Excel) and word processing skills.
·        Ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks under deadlines.
·        Must bring a process improvement and value creation mindset to the role.
·        Tremendous work ethic and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
