Compliance Intern

Job Description:
Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Intern will be working on projects and providing engineering support as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor at Crystal Group. He/She will be analyzing manufacturing processes and work flows, automation, tooling and fixtures, and may be responsible for related projects to include any of the following tasks: technical writing, updating and maintaining work instructions, drawings and other quality-controlled documents, assisting in the coordination of administrative activities, and other special projects as needed. The ME will be working with all levels of the organization to ensure workflow accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and quality.

Duties:
  • Assist with product transition plan from engineering to production
  • Assist with new work instructions software implementation
  • Provide technical and planning support to Operations
  • Participate in new product design reviews, providing early identification of planning or manufacturability issues
  • Evaluate and support all aspects of material planning, including kitting and process routings, to ensure accurate workflow
  • Ensure facility efficiency and workplace safety
  • Communicate with departments in Operations and all levels of the organization to share ideas and gain feedback related to work processes
  • Lead or assist continuous improvement efforts, such as root cause failure analysis
  • Evaluate processes related to time, cost reduction and inventory control
  • Analyze and evaluate methods of production and point out ways to improve them
  • Decide how the company should allocate its limited tangible resources (equipment and labor) within the framework of existing physical constraints (physical plant)

Requires:
Education:  Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or closely related field.
Experience: Junior or senior level status at an accredited university for Fall 2020, preferred.
Physical: Some standing, lifting, carrying, etc.
Miscellaneous:  Some travel may be needed. Must be a US citizen. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Autodesk software package preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Availability Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm during the summer months.
