Recreation Leader
DESCRIPTION:
Recreation Leaders will work as a team with co-leaders to plan and lead dynamic and creative youth recreational programs. Leaders will also help with special events, provide social interaction opportunities, and create a positive environment for all program participants. Recreation Leaders will be responsible for leading programs such as playground park program (Kids of Summer, Little Tykes, and Camp Explore), youth tennis, youth specialty camps, and special events that take place throughout the City.
Programs of Focus:
Recreation Leaders will work together to plan and implement age appropriate weekly arts and crafts, games and activities for children ages 4 to 12. Work scheduled hours will be at various park locations. Leaders will assist co-leaders in creating themed events to engage participants. Staff will ensure a safe environment for participants at all times; will also attend and participate in staff trainings and meetings. Position dates for all programs are June 7 – August 13, 2021. Some programs that Recreation Leaders will be involved with include:
Kids of Summer: Kids of Summer is a popular playground program for children between the ages of 6 and 12 that lets kids spend some summer fun with friends. Activities will include games, sports, arts and crafts, water activities. This program takes in the mornings and afternoons from Monday - Thursday. Date of program: June 14 – August 12
Little Tykes: Little Tykes is a similar structure to the Kids of Summer program but geared toward children between the ages of 4 and 5. Little Tykes can join friends for the same great activities as Kids of Summer. This program takes place only in the mornings from Monday - Thursday. Date of program: June 14 – August 12
Camp Explore: Camp Explore is an all-day structured summer camp program for children between the ages of 6 and 12. This program includes weekly themes of sports, nature, arts and more! This program takes place from 9:00am to 4:00pm from Monday – Thursday. Date of program: June 14 – August 12
Youth Tennis: Youth Tennis Leaders will plan and implement skill appropriate daily lessons to groups of children ages 6 to 12. This program takes place on weekday mornings (Monday-Thursday) and Tuesday evenings. Date of program: June 7 – July 27
Pop-Up Park: Recreation Leaders will be bringing games/activities to various neighborhood and community parks throughout Burnsville. This program takes place on select Friday mornings throughout the summer from 10:00am – Noon.
