Project Description and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist the STD Prevention Program Specialists on a federal grant objective. The intern will be working to help the STD Prevention Program identify Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT) practices of sites who participate in the Chlamydia/Gonorrhea Screening Program.
- Develop and disseminate a research survey regarding EPT implementation at the site.
- Collect survey data and synthesize the data.
- Work with Healthcare Education and Training (HCET), a partner of the STD Prevention Program, to obtain in-depth feedback regarding EPT implementation from selected sites. The intern will select sites based on survey data.
- Present and discuss the findings to STD Prevention Program Leadership.
- Collaborate on and develop program activities with the STD Prevention Program Specialists to put the data collected into action for the next grant cycle.
- The intern may also be required to do background research on Expedited Partner Therapy, data collection and analyzation, and survey creation and dissemination.
Job Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student in a public health, sexually transmitted disease/HIV/hepatitis, community health, epidemiology, or related program at a college or university
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
- Preferred experience with qualitative research activities
- Preferred experience with data collection and analyzation
- Preferred experience with Microsoft products: TEAMS, Word, Excel
Working Conditions for STD Prevention Program Internships:

- Intern for the STD Prevention Program in Summer 2021 will be working remotely and will be required to keep a log of hours worked and activities completed, to be turned into the Internship Preceptor on a weekly basis.
- Intern’s schedule is flexible to intern’s needs: intern will complete work Monday – Friday and may have opportunity to complete weekend (Saturday and Sunday) hours.
- Interns working remotely will be required to have access to a secure internet connection.
- Interns working remotely will be required to use Email and Microsoft Teams to conducts communications and to attend meetings.
- Intern is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Intern may be required to appear in-office at 2 N Meridian St, at direction of preceptor for some portions of the project or for staff/community partner meetings. Additionally, intern will have to present to 2 N Meridian St for their equipment.
- If presenting to the office, intern will be required to wear a mask and social distance while on 2 N Meridian property.
