Real Estate-Real Assets Debt Internship

Position Overview: Aegon Asset Management is seeking five interns for a full-time semester long real estate internship, working in the Commercial Mortgage Loan Production and Special Servicing groups, Debt group. The positions will begin in August, 2021 and end in January, 2022. The interns will work in both functional areas listed below.

Responsibilities:
COMMERCIAL MORTGAGE LOAN PRODUCTION, SPECIAL SERVICING AND SERVICING
  • Assist Loan Officers in underwriting and investing in commercial real estate loans across the country ranging from $3 million to $70 million. Tasks include valuation of commercial properties using a discounted cash flow analysis, market analysis, preparation of loan applications, and preparing loan committee presentations on subject properties to present to the Loan Committee for approval. Committee presentations include maps, photos, aerials, demographic information, and site plans. Interns are also asked to participate in meetings and conference calls to communicate loan terms, negotiate applications, discuss market and borrower topics, and to observe Loan Committee presentations.
  • The Intern assists the Special Servicing department in all facets of activities associated with developing and implementing loan workout strategies for loan assets assigned to the Special Servicing department. The intern assists the Special Servicing department in the development of Discounted Cash Flow Analysis and lease reviews for loan assets assigned to the Special Servicing Department, along with numerous other activities necessary to properly manage a loan asset.
  • The Intern assists the servicing department in maintaining current information on loan management system and assists with the processing of annual property inspection reports. The interns will assist tax analysts by pulling tax bills for portfolio loans and the valuation analysts in pulling and tracking borrower and property data. 

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be current full-time undergraduate student of an accredited 4 year college degree program majoring in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Economics, or Accounting or Real Estate, having successfully completed the first year of that program.
  • We cannot employ students as interns who will graduate prior to or at the end of the internship.
