Research and Development Technician

PreventionGenetics provides comprehensive germline DNA testing for patients from all over the world. PreventionGenetics has the largest clinical DNA test menu of any lab in America, with individual or small panel tests for over 1400 clinically-relevant genes. Our test methodology includes NextGen sequencing, Sanger sequencing and aCGH (both gene-centric and CMA). Due to our rapid growth and technical advancement, we have a new opening for a full-time Technician in the Research and Development Department. We are an industrious spirited group seeking a similarly motivated team-player.
 
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in genetics, biochemistry, biology, or a related field
  • Coursework in genetics is required
  • Independent research experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage several tasks and adapt to change in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with oligonucleotide primer design is highly desirable
  • Advanced computer skills (programming, data science, etc) is highly desirable
Responsibilities:
  • Sanger sequencing assay development
  • Execute projects and experiments efficiently (both individual and collaborative)
  • Produce validation documentation to expected standards
  • Work in collaboration with the Clinical Department to implement new technologies and workflows
  • Analyze sequencing results, including Sanger and NGS
  • Other job related duties as requested by management
