Laboratory Technician

PreventionGenetics provides comprehensive germline DNA testing for patients from all over the world. PreventionGenetics provides patients with sequencing and CNV tests for nearly all clinically relevant genes. These tests include our powerful and comprehensive whole exome sequencing test, PGxome. Our test methodology includes NextGen sequencing, Sanger sequencing and aCGH (both gene-centric and CMA). We will be adding genome sequencing to our growing test menu this year. Job Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing standard laboratory procedures within the assigned department/laboratory. The Clinical Laboratory Technician will analyze data and may assist with research and development. He/She will be relied upon to follow laboratory protocols and maintain high quality levels.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, biology, genetics, medical technology or a related field
  • Coursework in genetics and laboratory experience with DNA is preferred
  • ASCP certification in molecular biology, medical laboratory scientist, or medical laboratory technician is preferred
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Comfortable working with specialized laboratory instrumentation and software applications
Responsibilities:
  • Carry out laboratory protocols related to Sanger and/or Next Generation sequencing
  • Ensure efficient workflow and accurate analysis of test results
  • Analysis of sequencing results
  • Other job related duties as requested by management
