Job Title: 7-12 Campus Minister                              
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Theology                                           
Hours /Week: 40 
Reports to:  High School Chaplain                           
 
Primary Purpose: To assist the school chaplain and the theology teachers with campus ministry, liturgies, retreats, and other events among 7-12 grade levels to draw students into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ within the life of the Roman Catholic Church. 
 
Essential Functions:
1.    Assists the chaplain in planning and executing Campus Ministry that develops a broad base of student participation. This will involve the coordination of events, activities, and facilities for small groups, Bible Studies, retreats, and conferences. It will also include the building of strong relationships with students and the development of student leaders.  
2.   Supports and strengthens the faith dimension of the school by following the command of Christ to “Pray always” through prayer opportunities during the liturgical seasons, special events, and during times of crisis. Facilitating student ownership of prayer events is a priority.
3.   Organizes service opportunities within the school and in the broader civic community. Theological reflection and prayer will be an integral part of these experiences. Coordinates existing service work and expands opportunities with a focus on local, regional, national, or international service work of an authentic nature.
4.   Promotes a pro-life culture within the school through events and student awareness. 
5.   Enhances school environments with visible expressions of faith. Seasonal signs and decor are examples of such expressions.
6.   Assists the chaplain in planning and leading retreat opportunities that are grade-level appropriate and meet the changing needs of the student population. Retreats will include weekday class retreats and weekend overnight retreats.  
7.   Promotes a culture of vocational discernment among students as they discover the calling for which God has created them. 
8.   Builds collaborative relationships with clergy and staff of local parishes and other Catholic institutions, and with parents to create a team of volunteers. 
9.   Collaborates with chaplain and guidance counselor in assisting students with personal problems and pressures. 
10. Acts as an advocate with, or on behalf of, the students in addressing their concerns and needs. 
11.  Assists the chaplain in planning and executing faith formation/catechesis sessions for the school faculty.  
12. Assists with special programming that responds to specific needs that arise in the community. This includes activities such as food drives or other fundraisers. These are done utilizing existing structures.
13. Handles the budgeting, communication, scheduling, and follow up necessary for each responsibility.
14. Attends conferences or training sessions yearly to continue to improve their campus ministry skills. 
15. Participates in an annual performance evaluation according to the employee guidelines and policies.
