Power of Children Intern (SU 21)

Project Description
The Power of Children Symposium is a day-long gathering for teenage youth interested in learning how to take action to address a need or issue about which they care. We are looking for a curious, research-driven, insightful and creative intern to help our team continue to grow our Symposium model and deepen its experiences for participants. This position will have two distinct responsibilities:
1.   Developing a report for our team that captures key information and ideas from research on youth conferences, workshops, camps and summits around the country and aspects of these experiences (such as, themes, format of the events, length, locations, types of learning and social activities, speakers, facilitators, sponsors, fees);
2.   Assisting the team in planning for the Power of Children Symposium 2021, including identifying experiential and teambuilding activities.
 
Additional Internship Duties
·        Conducting online research
·        Conducting phone and email communication
·        Writing descriptions
·        Participating in daily check-ins on project and /weekly staff meetings
  
Internship Requirements
·        Majors preferred: Education, Philanthropy/Philanthropic Studies.
·        This position requires 20-25 hours per week during summer 2021, with 10 or more hours a week completed during normal Museum operating hours.
·        Familiarity with Google searches, web-based research, navigating organizations’ websites, writing reports, creating PowerPoint presentations, using Microsoft Word and Outlook.
·        Please submit a writing sample that incorporates research you conducted. This doesn’t need to be a formal research paper but should show your ability to review online resources, conduct analysis and create a written report or article based on your research. If you have developed a website that incorporates research and findings, you can submit this as an alternate writing sample.
