Environmental Health and Safety Intern

Environmental Health & Safety Internship
Our EH&S Internship is based in the Faribault (North), MN plant. Interns will be assigned projects in the factory to support EH&S departmental initiatives including, but not limited to:
Monitoring of implementing EHS requirements, regular audits, reviews, inspections, inspection rounds
Guidance for EHS-relevant topics
  • Improve basic EHS forms, work instructions and SDS database
  • Develop EHS documentation and file records process
  • Complete basic Industrial Hygiene monitoring including noise assessment, ventilation system monitoring, and ergonomic force measurements.
  • Conduct basic ergonomic assessment of workstations and operations.
  • Perform basic safety assessments (e.g. Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment, Machine Guarding, etc.) of manufacturing operations to identify hazards and implement effective controls.
  • Develop EHS training programs including a video/web based training course.
  • Participate in EHS inspections (hazardous and universal waste, wastewater, storm water, satellite storage areas, etc.) and improve protocols and checklists for process improvement
  • Participate in ISO 14001 program development and management
Timeline
  • This Internship will begin the summer of 2021        and could extend beyond the summer months.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, prefer students with a 3.5 or better
  • Currently enrolled in BS of Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering or similar degree program.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 35 hours per week
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
