Clinical Research Assistant II (Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine)
Boston Children's Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine is hiring a Clinical Research Assistant II to work with Dr. S. Bryn Austin and Dr. Tracy Richmond on two studies:
- Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED): based at Harvard School of Public Health and Boston Children’s Hospital to develop innovative approaches to eating disorders prevention
- Registry for Eating disorders and their Co-morbidities OVER time in Youth (RECOVERY): A longitudinal web-based study of youth with eating disorders
This Clinical Research Assistant II will be responsible for:
- Communicating via Zoom, in person, over the phone, and via email with collaborating researchers and community partners about ongoing studies and policy translation initiatives
- Supporting ongoing study communications with registry participants via web-based surveys
- Maintaining study documents, participant files, and assist principal investigator by providing feedback on study procedures
- Performing literature searches, summarize information and data, assist with analysis and scientific writing for journal articles on topics related to eating disorders prevention and treatment, sexual health, and other topics important to adolescent health
- Managing website for course “Sexuality and Public Health” at Harvard Chan School of Public Health
- Creating content for and manage STRIPED social media accounts and Wordpress website
- Helping to develop and submit grant applications and manage funded grants
- Managing study data and documentation, including completed surveys, informed consent forms, staff training logs, IRB correspondence, and travel and study expenses and reimbursements
- Helping with study participant recruitment for the RECOVERY Study; closely collaborate with other RECOVERY study research assistant to manage and share day-to-day study activities, including participant recruitment, sending surveys and emails to participants, checking study safety log, and contacting providers in the study
- Assisting with administrative tasks and other projects as needed, including education initiatives, outreach to schools and community partners, and coordinating community outreach for advocacy initiatives.
To qualify, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, psychology, or other social sciences field and relevant work/research experience
- Experience and interest in adolescent health, public health, psychology, eating disorders prevention, epidemiology, and policy preferred
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent writing skills essential, professional writing and editing experience preferred
- Ability to maintain participant data confidentiality and adhere to study protocol
- Experience and comfort using: computer applications (Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), statistical software (SPSS for statistical analysis, etc.) and website management tools
- Ability to take initiative, work without direct supervision, multi-task, work on multiple projects with changing deadlines
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Commitment of two years strongly preferred
