Ministry Coordinator

Job Description: This position plays a critical role in the success of both the Cairn Program and our summer camps. Working alongside the Ministry Manager and the Ministries Director the Ministry Coordinators (MC’s) will serve as mentors and shepherds overseeing resident life for the Cairn students. MC’s will live with the Cairn Students during the school year. While Cairn Students are working, the RA’s will assist in running the ministry department at camp and may occasionally assist the Timber Challenge. (Commonly referred to as the TC Department) with facilitating classes for our guests.

Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee all of resident life ranging from family dinner nights, game nights, and quiet hours to resolving disputes and ensuring cleanliness in the house.
  • Becomes a trusted advisor to Cairn students and a person they want to turn to for advice as they wrestle with the three key areas of the Cairn Program: Self-Discovery, Spiritual Growth and Professional Development.
  • Serves as a key leader on Cairn Class trips, and occasionally teaches Cairn classes as appropriate or assigned.
  • Year round position that serves as Cairn RA during the school year and Counselor Coordinator for our youth camps during the summer.
  • Assist with Interviewing, hiring and training summer staff, and Cairn students.
  • Instruct and Facilitate TC Classes which may include: Climbing wall, Zip line, High Ropes, Team Building, Cross Country Skiing, Canoeing and others.
  • Assist in other camp wide tasks and opportunities as assigned or interested.

  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to teach or lead others.

  • Passion for people, learning new things, and a sense of adventure.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Positional

  • Willingness to live in a shared community with the Cairn students of the same gender. MC’s will have their own room, but share the other living spaces.  
  • Ability to navigate interpersonal conflict in a healthy and Christ-like manner.
  • Mindfulness of Timber-lee property and resources to show care and avoid waste.
  • Willingness to provide guidance and spiritual discipleship for the Cairn students.
  • Participate and lead Bible studies and small group devotions.
  • Ability to plan and lead Cairn students on the 4 off-site trips throughout the year.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of assisting in the TC department including the ability to work at heights, lift 50 pounds, swim, work outdoors year round, and maintain a weight below our climbing limit of 265Lbs is preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
