Development & Events Intern

Under the leadership of the Executive Director, the intern will provide assistance in the specific areas of planning, organizing, and implementing annual events such as the Chefs Auction (that raises $207,000+), the Open House (which attracts over 350 individuals), and our Drive Out Bullying initiative (which raises $35,000+ and engages over 500 volunteers in service in one month). In addition, the Development & Events Intern will provide support in a variety of areas of fundraising as outlined below.
                                  
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
1.      Research and prepare background for individuals, corporations and possible sponsorship/grant applications.
2.      Assist with submitting in-kind and gift card requests.
3.      Utilize LinkedIn as a means of “connecting the dots” between existing relationships and donor prospects.
4.      Assist with preparing thank you letters for Friday Night Live food sponsors, other in-kind donors, and gift card donors.
5.      Research potential inventory sources for The Bridge Thrift Store.
6.      Assist with putting together individual donor fundraising appeals (Spring & Winter).
 
WINTER/SPRING (JAN.-MAY) SEMESTER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1.      Serve as part of the Chefs’ Auction event planning team.
2.      Pick up silent auction donations from businesses in the community as needed.
3.      Inventory silent auction donations and package silent auction baskets.
4.      Upload silent auction package descriptions to online silent auction website .
5.      Assist with day-before and day-of event set-up & operations (mandatory), 1st Thursday of March.
6.      Assist with executing post-event thank you and post-event donor acquisition plan.
 
SUMMER (MAY-AUG.) SEMESTER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1.      Serve as part of the Open House planning team.
2.      Assist with day-before and day-of event set-up & operations (mandatory), 1st Sat. after Memorial Day.
3.      Identify potential new event sponsors and volunteer groups for Drive Out Bullying (DOB) initiative.
4.      Register DOB volunteer opportunities on corporate websites.
5.      Identify potential new event sponsors for Chefs’ Auction event.
6.      Build Chefs’ Auction silent auction prospect spreadsheet and inventory donations.
 
FALL/WINTER (SEPT.-DEC.) SEMESTER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1.      Serve as part of the Drive Out Bullying (DOB) initiative planning team.
2.      Assist the Development & Events Coordinator in leading DOB volunteers (as schedule allows).
3.      Prepare thank you notes for DOB volunteer groups and sponsors.
4.      Identify potential new event sponsors for Chefs’ Auction event.
5.      Build silent auction prospect spreadsheet.
6.      Start silent auction donor recruitment.
