Adult & Child Health has served central Indiana as a Community Mental Health Center for over five decades as a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization. We’ve been a staple in Indianapolis since 1949, originally known as Marion County Child Health Clinic. In 1982, we officially became Adult & Child Health. In 2017, we became a Federally Qualified Health Center, which means we can now deliver primary care to our community. About This Position:
Our full-time non-exempt (Hourly) Child Welfare Specialist helps to support our mission and team so we can work in the most efficient and effective way. You will work Monday - Friday, with some evenings required, but have the opportunity for remote work and flexible scheduling. You will work out of one of our Franklin or Columbus, IN locations.
What You'll Bring:
Adult and Child Center provides therapeutic services to families involved with Department of Child Services (DCS) and court-involved youth in central Indiana, helping to develop healthy homes where children are safe, supported and well-cared for. As a member of the Home-Based Team, the Child Welfare Specialist is responsible for supervising visits between children and their caregiver(s), attending court hearings and DCS/Probation team meetings, providing case management, and empowering adults and children to reach their full potential while effectively and efficiently managing community and center resources. This individual collaborates with the multidisciplinary team including their supervisor, team psychologists, schools, employers, and DCS/Probation staff to assist each family in meeting their treatment goals.
Responsibilities:
- Developing key skills with families (children and adults)
- Linking family members to needed mental health services and community resources
- Case management
- Supervising children and caregiver(s) visits
- Attending court and DCS/probation meetings
- Accurate, timely progress notes and reports/documentation

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, or closely related field required OR a combination of child welfare experience and one of the following bachelor degrees: Criminal Justice, Nursing, Psychiatry, Sociology, Special Education
- Experience with EMR systems preferred
- Previous experience in child welfare and/or community based services preferred
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with a variety of individuals (staff therapists, psychologists, DCS/probation staff)
- Knowledge of child abuse and neglect; child and adult development; community resources
- Strong organizational skills
- Must hold a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and provide own, insured, transportation
