Social Services Impact Intern

Under the direct supervision of the Program Services Director and Manager, the Social Service Impact Intern will support Program Services Department that oversee services throughout the DC Metro Area. By supporting daily activities that inform critical social service impact, the selected intern will have a unique opportunity to view social services from a Macro and Micro stance with specific responsibilities related to data collection, monitoring, enhancement, and development of statistical reporting. Additionally, the intern will shadow and spend time in our Emergency Service and Residential programs learning how to support client and resident requests. 
Available for a minimum 15 hours per week. At least a 3-month commitment.

Assignments may include but not be limited to the following:
·    Monitoring and correcting monthly statistical reports
·    Generating and pulling statistical reports from national database
·    Administering reporting to various departments as needed rendered
·    Assisting in the migration of an existing database to a new system and conducting support trainings on new system
·    Creating resource list for each Corps area and conducting outreach to larger Social Service programs to introduced partnership opportunities
·    Assist in the expansion of programs within Program Services
·    Update and distribute monthly calendars or team invites as needed
·    Develop and administer Social Service surveys
·    Assist in maintaining client records
·   Respond to basic phone inquiries; filing, mailings, and other administrative tasks

Minimum Qualifications:
·    Enthusiasm for The Salvation Army’s mission and the families we serve, and an open and friendly spirit.
·    Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably in a related field.
·    Computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
·    Strong written and oral communication skills.
·    Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple detail-oriented projects.
·    Comfortable performing general clerical work including letter writing, filing, faxing, copying, answering phones, responding to emails, etc.
·    Ability to project a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army.
