Communications Content Strategist

LOCATION: Green Bay Campus
STANDARD HOURS: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to work other hours including evenings needed.
MINIMUM STARTING SALARY*: $64,627/year
*Current benefit eligible employees will be placed within the pay range based on their current rate/range.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Content Strategist requires strong writing skills to create and implement internal and external communication strategies, content, and channels to tell the NWTC (Northeast Wisconsin Technical College) story. This position involves initiating and managing the research and writing of messages and stories shared on behalf of the College, as well as building relationships and fostering a dialogue with the people who make up the organization.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
·      Develop strategy and implement communication plans that include message development, stakeholder engagement, tactical execution, and measurement against established objectives.
  • Manage the NWTC social media channels and collaborate with the Marketing Communications team on the content strategy and development to actively monitor, engage and build user base on all platforms.
·      Proactively plan and develop content to amplify the NWTC messages and stories; cultivate content sources from within the College. Identify storytelling opportunities and help others develop and tell stories in alignment with the NWTC narrative, image, and brand.
·      Align content with College strategic priorities creating cohesive content experiences, including messaging, voice, and tone, across the customer journey and relevancy to multiple cultural environments.
·      Serve as communications content partner to Executive Leadership to craft policy statements and responses to issues and stakeholders that will affect the College; help clarify the College’s point of view to important stakeholders through consultation, research, and content creation.
·      Produce and share content and stories through multiple channels such as, but not limited to, blogs, podcasts, social media, etc.
·      Solicit and develop content to position the college, its leaders, and subject-matter experts as thought leaders in industry publications and social media.
·      Provide coaching and strategic communications counsel to teams in alignment with the NWTC brand standards.
·      Research and represent the college in award opportunities to be recognized locally and nationally as leaders within higher education.
·      Collaborate with Media Relations Strategist to ensure participation in WTCS and industry partner media relations and awareness campaigns to promote technical education and to advance the core mission of the System as a whole.
·      Expect to work some evening and weekend hours and to be on call to respond to social media and reputation issues outside the College’s work hours to meet customer needs.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field.  Associate’s degree and relevant working experience will be considered.

Experience: A minimum of two years related experience in writing role with preference in higher education, non-profits, or service-related industry.
 
Required Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills are required
 **An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office Suite, photo and video editing software, and social media management systems.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.
