Position description
Primarily works in the cardiac surgery operating room to provide cardiopulmonary bypass support on adult open-heart cases. Responsible for the operation of extra-corporeal circulation equipment during surgical and medical situations, primarily cardio pulmonary by-pass surgery. Responsible for appropriate selection of equipment and techniques to be used, and to ensure the safe management of physiologic functions. Follows established perfusion protocols relating to patient demographics, surgical procedure, and situation.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; supplemented with three (3) years of related experience preferred. Graduate of a Perfusion Technology Program accredited by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.

Additional qualifications
Familiarity with the use of Centrifugal Pumps, Ventricular Assist Devices, and ECMO. Knowledge of Adult and Pediatric clinical perfusion; experience or interest in pediatrics is desired. Knowledge of perfusion practices and equipment. Knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology. Strong interpersonal/human relations skills.
Ability to work under stressful situations.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to be able to work unpredictable hours, rotating shifts and on-call schedule.

License or certification
Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required. New graduates required to successfully obtain certification within one year of hire.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $5,836.80, based on a full-time position.
