Under the direct supervision of the Social Services Manager, the Emergency Assistance Intern will support the Program Department and Emergency Assistance (EMAST) Team by assisting with the administration of the social services program with emphases on the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and other administrative tasks. Shadow case workers and enhance case management usage throughout programs

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Minimum: 3 months with 15 hours/week during school year; 30-40 hours/week during the summer. 

Assignments may include but not be limited to the following:
·  Assist clients with completing rental assistance applications online.
·  Answer and respond to basic phone inquiries.
·  Collect client documents and uploading to electronic files.
·  Assist in the expansion of programs within EMAST department that enhance utilization of case management services.
·  Track and maintain monthly statistics from all programs.
·  Shadow the ERAP and EMAST case workers to prepare for small case support by the close of internship.
·  Assist in maintaining client records.

Minimum Qualifications:
·  Enthusiasm for The Salvation Army’s mission and the families we serve, and an open and friendly spirit.
·  Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably in a related field.
·  Computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
·  Strong written and oral communication skills.
·  Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple detail-oriented projects.
·  Comfortable performing general clerical work including letter writing, filing, faxing, copying, answering phones, responding to emails, etc.
·  Ability to project a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army.
