211692 Stromal Immune Modulation Fall Co-op

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Co-Op candidate to join our Cancer Immunology and Immune Modulation (CI&IM) department located at our Ridgefield CT facility. The Co-op’s role will be to evaluate the interaction of the tumor microenvironment with cancer cells and the immune system. The Coop will assess novel technologies related to tumor immunology, cell lines and stromal signaling pathways with impact across different project teams and therapeutic areas. This position will involve extensive use immunological and molecular biology-based techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities:
·      Plan and perform experiments that align with CI&IM goals to understand the TME.
·      Design and perform- cell culture experiments, sample preparation for flow cytometry, in vivo mouse dosing, in vivo mouse surgeries, tissue harvest, stromal cell isolation, T cell isolation and culture, sample preparations and sequencing libraries for single cell chromatin accessibility, single cell transcriptomics, and contribute to novel spatial transcriptomics studies to further characterize TME in mouse models and human tumors.
·      Work in highly collaborative manner in a multidisciplinary team in a matrix-team environment within the Cancer Immunology Department; Stromal Biology, Myeloid Biology, In vivo, pathology and Bioinformatics groups
·      Write methods and technical reports; provide scientific interpretation of results with minimal guidance.
·      Present data at the end of internship in a poster or an oral presentation in the department meetings.
 
Requirements:
·      Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
·      Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
·      Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
·      Major must be related to the field of internship.
 
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
·      Currently enrolled student in a molecular biology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry or related. MS or PhD Graduate student preferred
·      Must have prior wet lab experience demonstrated via hands-on relevant research experience.
·      Must have good understanding of basic scientific principles and research practices in the field of immunology, molecular biology and cancer research
·      Familiarity or prior experience with flow cytometry, tumor immunology and cell culture preferred.
·      Excellent oral and written communication skills; highly organized and efficient record keeping
 
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
