Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and motivated cooperative education (co-op) candidate to join the Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Department located in Ridgefield, CT. As a co-op student within the non-clinical DMPK (ncDMPK) group, you will investigate various technologies related to the mechanistic understanding of drug metabolizing enzymes. Additionally, you will be able to learn the process of small molecule drug development while collaborating with experienced scientists.

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Design, conduct in vitro assays and interpret the resulting data to investigate mechanistic interactions involving various drug metabolizing enzymes
· Investigate the applicability of novel hepatocyte systems as in vitro tools to study drug metabolism
· Comply with applicable regulations and perform all work in a safe and responsible manner
· Maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and corporate policies
Requirements:
Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
· Basic understanding of chemistry, biochemistry, and enzyme kinetics is desired
· Ability to work in the laboratory independently and to quickly learn how to operate complex analytical instrumentation
· Experience to perform experiments, and interpret data from studies involving drug metabolizing enzymes is a plus
· Experience with cell culture would be beneficial
· Effective written, communication, and interpersonal skills
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
