Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Data & Evaluation Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the operations team at Safe & Sound. This position will work closely with the staff leaders and the Board of Directors to support and promote the mission of Safe & Sound. The Data & Evaluation Coordinator is a newly revised position designed to oversee all aspects of program evaluation and data management for Safe & Sound.

The Data and Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for leading Safe & Sound’s efforts to create and implement systems that will allow us to collect and analyze program-related data to further our strategic goals. This new position is a critical component to furthering our data-driven and learning organization at Safe & Sound.

  • Develop helpful and meaningful data analysis and reports that capture programmatic progress, key performance indicators and outcomes;
  • Monitor data quality and timeliness;
  • Develop mastery in our database (Salesforce) and work to build the capacity of staff around its use .
  • Assist in building an outcome-driven culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a vehicle, and automobile insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Requires City of Milwaukee residence 90 days after hire date.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Collection and Analysis:
  • Work collaboratively with staff to use logic models to identify and track key program outputs and outcomes.
  • Collect, extract and analyze meaningful program data and program evaluation metrics.
  • Produce reports that summarize data in charts and tables as well as narratives.
  • Complete monthly/quarterly program reports to ensure progress toward outcomes (including updating dashboards for board of directors internal/external affairs committees)
  • Provide relevant data for grants, annual reports, and related projects.
  • Work with program staff to understand organizational outputs and their impact on the community.
  • Lead the work of our internal data workgroup.

Data Management System:
  • Serve as in-house expert on our data management system (Salesforce), including staying up to date on updates and/or complementary software or apps.
  • Become proficient in all data collection tools used by Safe & Sound including Mogli SMS and Landgrid.
  • Develop capacity to modify or customize the structure of data management system to ensure the platform is adequate and tailored to meet the needs of staff.
  • Serve as primary liaison with data management vendor, other software add-in vendors.

Outcomes, Data Quality & Integrity:
  • Review programmatic goals and outputs to ensure compliance and provide technical assistance to center staff in process/quality improvement.
  • Conduct quality control program analysis to determine if program deliverables meet established standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of data for quality and timeliness of data entry by staff.
  • Design and prepare finding reports, includes recommendations for program quality improvement.
  • Create and share data presentations on our outcomes for funders, our board, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist staff with the design of program evaluation surveys as needed.
  • Work with the Executive Director on tracking and report of strategic goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Collective Impact Manager with data collection and evaluating the effectiveness of neighborhood Collective Impact initiatives.
  • Over see the development and implementation of surveys and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of our Collective Efficacy work.
  • Provide input into organizational decisions on service delivery.

Training & Learning:
  • Provide on-going training and support staff on use of data management system and how to extract data, and on evaluation and outcomes.
  • Create, monitor and maintain data collection training materials.
  • Support staff in analyzing program-level data and how it might inform program improvements.
  • Facilitate peer learning across programs using data about our priority neighborhoods and our progress toward outcomes.
  • Stay current on evaluation trends and tools in the nonprofit world; network with similar organizations with the goal of increasing our learning.

Organizational Responsibilities:
  • Through the use of data, partner closely with the Executive Director, Directors and Program District Managers on how to create more holistic engagement of residents and youth across programs.
  • Actively contribute to the implementation of organizational strategic goals and objectives; help advance Safe & Sound’s mission and values.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, committees, etc. (leading the Data Workgroup)
  • Support the collection and use of data for continuous program improvement and fundraising.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with 1-2 years related experience in research, evaluation and/or data management.
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting using data tracking software as well as a solid understanding of outcomes measurement and/or program evaluation; preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to present in front of groups and translate information to a variety of audiences with differing backgrounds, education, and levels of expertise.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible.
  • Strong project management, computer, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work and communicate effectively and respectfully with youth and adults of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a goal-oriented team environment.
  • Must be flexible, organized, reliable, responsible, collaborative, and creative.

  • Knowledge of law enforcement and community development experience.
  • Physical requirements are those of a general office environment.

Salary: The anticipated salary range is $40,000 to $45,000 commensurate with experience.
