Scientist III, Screening

StemoniX, Inc. is developing and commercializing human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) technology platforms to produce models of living tissues that emulate key aspects of human biology and disease for use in drug discovery, clinical development, and therapeutic applications. The tissue systems developed through internal research programs at StemoniX have the potential to transform the drug discovery process, with more effective and relevant drugs targets for human trials and commercialization in a fraction of the time required by current drug develop methodologies.

We are seeking a candidate with excellent communication and teamwork skills, highly motivated and highly energetic to join the Discovery as a Service group as a Scientist III. The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, entreprenuerial, highly dynamic, multidisciplinary team focused environment.

Responsibilities will involve the design and execution of client-based screening assays with our microBrain and microHeart platforms to quantify multiple phenotypes (functional, cellular and molecular) using diverse techniques such as FLIPR, ICC, ELISA, flow cytometry and qPCR. The successful candidate will serve as an internal and external technical expert; developing and validating cell-based and molecular assays, assisting clients with study design, executing and/or supervising internal and external studies according to Standard Operating Procedures, data analysis, and client presenations as appropriate. This position will report directly to the Discovery as a Service manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities
· Design and execute client-based screening projects in an efficient and timely manner.
· Support development and implementation of new screening platforms and assays.
· Establish and maintain records of the work being performed using good documentation practices.
· Draft, revise and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
· Perform independent analysis and interpretation of data from biological screening assays.
· Effectively communicate cross-functionally across the organization.
· Additional responsibilities as assigned to support growing company initiatives.

Essential Job Requirements
· The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s or PhD in Neuroscience, Cellular Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Pharmacology or related fields.
· Outstanding organizational skills, record-keeping and lab notebook tracking are required.
· Robust experience with high-throughput, cell-based assay development and execution.
· Demonstrated experience with human cell culture, involving maintenance and propagation of several independent cell lines and sub-clones simultaneously.
· Experience in data analysis of high throughput assay endpoints.

Desired Qualifications
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience with cell-based cancer screening assays.
· Experience with advanced microscopy techniques, such as confocal imaging, image acquisition and data analysis.
· Familiarity with functional readouts using MEA, FLIPR, or microscopy using human iPSC-derived neural cultures.
· Demonstrated experience with High Content Screening and high-throughput equipment.
· Previous experience with phenotypic assays.
