Position Title: Logistics Support Specialist

Position Title: Logistics Support Specialist 
Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego
Pay Rate: $17
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Overview:
Logistics Support Specialist will provide program support. They will maintain a positive, professional, and safe environment within shelter operations. They will provide general support of shelter guests including greeting guests at Port of Entry (POE) and shelter lodging, providing conflict resolution, and transporting goods and persons to the shelter location. They will coordinate and assist staff/volunteers with providing other supportive services, communicating policies and procedures to shelter guests, receiving, and organizing donations. They will manage the supply on-site donations.

Responsibilities:
  • Create daily reports
  • Anticipate and identify the need of all the activities of the shelter
  • Handle all requests in an efficient manner
  • Ensure tracking of non-expendable property
  • Coordinate with the organization collecting donations
  • Ensure the shelter has appropriate clothing items and sizes for the client needs
  • Receive guests at the Port of Entry (POE) and/or Shelter
  • Performs administrative duties in support of an assigned area of responsibility
  • Maintains inventory and orders supplies as directed
  • Coordinate and verify on-site scheduled meals, supportive services, events, and volunteers.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute donations.
  • Report needed supplies/donations to Shelter Manager or Shelter Director.
  • Complete reports as requested.
  • Be able to work in an environment that is fast paced, completing multiple tasks, efficiently, safely while meeting stringent timelines
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute donations.
  • Check and reply to shelter emails professionally and in a timely manner.

Skills/Abilities that are a Must-Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus and/or minimum of 2 years’ experience with shelter operations
  • Experience in customer service and crisis intervention
  • Understanding of trauma informed care and ability to implement trauma informed practices
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers effectively
  • Good sense of direction, problem solving
  • Ability to plan logistics for deliveries, pickups, and distributions
  • Coordinate, organize and manage multiple tasks in a busy, distracting work setting
  • Work independently, problem-solve and effectively resolve concerns or complaints
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, customers, community members, community partners and others contacted in the course of work
  • Identify methods to maximize service effectiveness and efficiency
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Outstanding work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, team-oriented
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to write clear concise e-mails
  • Strong leadership skills

Skills/Abilities we’d like you to Have:
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish required
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred, but not required
  • Valid CA Driver’s License
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
  • Ability to lift 20+ pounds several times through out the day.
