Digital Journalism Fall Internship

Zenger News, the world's first digitally native news wire, seeks interns for full-time editorial positions beginning in late August. These unpaid opportunities can last for an academic term, for the fall of 2021, or for longer if circumstances warrant.

Zenger interns include some who study at America’s most prestigious journalism schools. They perform a wide variety of tasks including reporting, editing and research. They also help us develop a best-in-class content management system that we're building with future technologies in mind.

The purpose of an internship is to become a solid employment candidate somewhere in the field. We aim to make our interns career-ready.

Zenger interns get bylines: They have been published in Newsweek, Forbes and other high-profile outlets. They participate in daily editorial meetings and work with professional editors who can help them develop their craft. Zenger’s program also includes seminars and workshops, led by staff and other career professionals, covering a different journalism-related topic each week.

Zenger is 100 percent virtual. Our senior staff live and work in three different U.S. time zones. This internship does not require any physical attendance, but interns in Washington, D.C. may have opportunities to cover live events with professional reporters.

All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. Zenger fosters diversity in its ranks and does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, handicap, nationality, citizenship, religion or political opinion.

If you plan to complete an internship for academic credit, check with your internship coordinator before accepting.
