About South Bend Empowerment Zone
The South Bend Empowerment Zone was created in spring 2019 to transform five schools on the west side of South Bend. We have a phenomenal team of teachers/staff, school leaders, and central support leaders who are on fire to actualize our vision and mission in service to our children and families. We serve approximately 2000 children on the west side of South Bend, who inspire us daily with their greatness.

Position Overview
The PeaceBuilder Coach works within South Bend Empowerment Zone schools and play a critical role within schools, supporting a holistic culture transformation through Operation PEACE (Partners in Education And Cultural Excellence). PeaceBuilder Coaches help bring conflict resolution tools such as social-emotional learning, communication techniques, restorative processes, mindfulness, and other proven de-escalation peacebuilding skills. The PeaceBuilder Coach also works closely with their school's Principal and their Administrative Team to ensure peacebuilding initiatives and resources are meeting expectations and that outcomes are consistently tracked. The overarching goals of the initiative is to demonstrate a decrease in behavioral incidents, an increase in student attendance and improved academic achievement in the school by creating a safe, stable, supportive environment in which students can excel.
