Accounting Manager

Description
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in accounting systems, and strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an efficient monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting process. The person in this position will work closely with the Director of Finance and the corporate team to help support daily financial operations for our growing company. This position is for candidates who will thrive in a fast-paced environment that is scaling systems and processes. We’re seeking an enthusiastic team member that enjoys working in a fun atmosphere and is willing to roll up their sleeves to tackle a variety of projects as they arise.

Essential Functions
General Accounting – 45%
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational accounting functions.
  • Manage the month-end close process, creating and posting journal entries, performing and reviewing account reconciliations and meeting all required reporting deadlines.
  • Develop, implement, and document new policies and procedures to enhance the workflow of the department and the company.
  • Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation and reconciliation processes.
People Management – 25%
  • Assign and monitor workload across team.
  • Align team’s work and priorities to the broader functional team strategy to support and align to Company strategic vision and goals.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff members, encouraging an appropriate level of independence and supporting professional growth.
  • Mentor team members and provide routine feedback to team on performance, including an annual performance evaluation.
Administration and Project Support – 20%
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and improvement of processes, procedures, and policies, in alignment with Evergreen’s mission and values.
  • Assist in coordination of operations infrastructure: systems, processes, and programs.
  • Coordinate and assist with company-wide programs and special projects.
General – 10%
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Protects organization by keeping information confidential.
  • Increases job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience in a corporate environment and/or in public accounting
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, cost accounting, and finance concepts

Other Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA eligible
  • A strong understanding of the accounting for a professional service company
  • Knowledge of integrated financial systems and software applications (FinancialForce)
  • Demonstrated prior success supervising staff.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong intuition and analytic/problem-solving skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of team members, managers and vendors required.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Experience coordinating and executing organizational processes.
  • High attention to detail is required.

Travel Requirements
Occasional travel up to 5% per year.
