Energy Management System Coordinator I

POSITION: Energy Management System Coordinator I                                           
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $5,651 – $8,478

As a member of System Operations team under minimal supervision of the SCADA/EMS Supervisor, performs professional level work in planning, design, specification, programming, testing, documenting and maintaining critical computer systems. Responsible for software change management and patch management on critical computer systems. Provides technical support to System Operations staff in order to resolve problems with computer systems and provides training in use of the applications. Work with department personnel to ascertain specific system requirements and provide necessary records and reports. Responsible for recommending and implementing procedures as it pertains to NERC Reliability Standards and complying with NERC CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) cyber security requirements to safeguard the integrity of SCADA/EMS data and software.  Operates a motor vehicle to conduct city business. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology or a related field; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Have a working knowledge of network architecture, cyber security controls, change control, software patch management, database management systems, and windows administration. Valid driver’s license required. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. Preferred Experience: Experience working in information technology, computer, network administration and programming/scripting. Have an experience with real-time control/industrial automation systems. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of real-time control/industrial automation systems; software change management and patch management practices; programming languages such as scripting, C/C++ and Visual Basic; Windows administration, Active directory, network administration, and Microsoft Office products. Skill in communication clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of information and statistical data and materials; organizing work, setting priorities to meet critical deadlines. Physical demands: Must have good hearing and be able to distinguish colors. While performing essential functions of this job, the employee is required to sit for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Typical Working Conditions: Working conditions are typically moderately quiet office environment. Must be able to work extended hours as necessary to provide operational effectiveness.
