Accounting Intern
Northern Tool + Equipment is excited to announce our 2021 Internship Program!
The program is designed to kick-start your career and provide real-world experience in your chosen profession. For this position, we’re currently searching for an intern to join our Finance department as a part of our Accounting team!
In this role, candidates will further develop their skills and knowledge by completing project-based work that addresses real business issues. The program will connect participants with management at various levels of the organization and provide an inside view of Northern’s environment and culture. You will also be assigned a specific project that will not only maximize your potential but add great value to our company!
Some of the responsibilities will include:
- Cash and credit card reconciliations
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Filing sales tax returns and coding payments
- Fixed asset setup, depreciation, reconciliation, and disposals
- Visibility into Month End close process and reporting
- End of program presentation to members of the management team

What we are seeking in an intern:
- Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration.
- Familiar with standard concepts, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and basic profit and loss reporting layout and flow.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products including Excel is a must.
- Detail oriented and analytical.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work remotely the majority of the time.
- Retail Experience a plus.
(Please note: All 2021 internships will be remote for the majority of the summer, but will require occasional visits to the Burnsville office and local retail stores.)
