Senior Accountant

This is the ideal next step for an experience Accounting professional who enjoys the challenges and rewards of a fast paced, team oriented environment and wants to take his/her career to the next level. The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Altar’d State accounting team and is responsible for day-to-day accounting duties and for our internal and external financial statements on a monthly basis. The position offers growth opportunities and the chance to work directly with upper management and various Business Units within the company.

Job Requirements

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by verifying transactions related to daily operations.
  • Preparing and recording journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Performing analysis on one-off transactions and ensuring the correct accounting is applied.
  • Support the execution of special projects as required.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Monitoring store bank accounts and working with stores on their banking needs and deposits.
  • Working closely with accounts payable and other departments to understand their vendors to ensure accruals and prepaids are booked correctly.
  • Having a crucial role in the month-end close process, including ownership of various areas.
  • Publishing internal and external financial statements on a monthly basis.
  • Coordinating with external auditors for documentation needs and on the year-end financial statements.
  • Managing the fixed assets for over 120 stores.
  • Organizing and maintaining the safe keeping of documents.
  • Monthly business and financial statement analysis and involvement in the cash flow forecast.
  • Researching accounting standards related to one-off transactions that arise.
  • Understanding accounting processes, streamlining and documenting those processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
