The laboratory is currently seeking a highly motivated PhD organic or medicinal chemist to join the drug discovery team. The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team with the goal of identifying new drug candidates to address unmet medical needs.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design small molecules/peptide analogues to meet project’s need
  • Independently design, troubleshoot and execute synthetic routes
  • Perform the purification and characterization of synthesized compounds using modern chromatographic and analytical techniques, including flash chromatography, prep-LC, TLC, HPLC, LCMS and NMR et al.
  • Maintain high level of scientific integrity and laboratory safety
  • Stay current with scientific advances. Review literature and propose innovative ideas.  
  • Effectively communicate new project proposals, medicinal chemistry strategies, data and results, both informally and in meetings with colleagues and management
  • Work collaboratively across diverse functions within and across multidisciplinary project teams, including virtual teams.

Required Education and Qualification
 
  • Recent PhD graduates in organic or medicinal chemistry.
  • Some industry drug discovery experience or knowledge preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with structure-activity, structure-property relationship, and modern drug design practices.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex synthetic schemes.
  • Demonstrated experience with asymmetric organic synthesis and peptide chemistry.
  • Familiar with other scientific disciplines in drug discovery, such as biological activity, ADME and pharmacology.
  • A team player who listens effectively and invites response and discussion.
  • A collaborator who communicates in an open, clear, complete, timely and consistent manner.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
