214132 Software Developer Fall Co-Op

Description:

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Co-Op candidate to join our IT RDM department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As a Co-Op, you will participate in IT projects/Initiatives, and develop bioinformatics applications to support Research and Development activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      Collaborate with IT and research scientists to analyze their processes and needs
·      Understand user requirements for bioinformatics/biological data analysis tools
·      Review and re-engineer legacy applications
·      Develop, implement and deploy applications for research and development
·      Seek feedbacks from end users and continually improve the application

Requirements:

Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.0 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
Major must be related to the field of internship.

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

·      The ability to work independently and on a team.
·      Understand principles of relational databases
·      Experience in database-driven web application development
·      Some experience in bioinformatics application and prediction tools of biological data
·      Able to code in at least one high level programming and scripting languages such as PHP, Python, Perl or others
·      Knowledge and some exposure to pharmaceutical or biotech R&D will be helpful.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
