Financial Accountant-Financial Reporting

The City of Dallas currently has an excellent opportunity for a Financial Accountant in the City Controller's Office who can work independently, take charge, and work well with management and staff. The City of Dallas offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Essential Functions
Major job functions include: assisting in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; entering and approving journal entries; reviewing financial transactions; preparing working papers and schedules; implementing new Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements; reconciling general ledger accounts; preparing and reconciling grant schedules; assisting City departments with accounting issues; and assisting with the external and internal audit engagements. Additional projects will be assigned as required by management. Overtime will be required periodically to complete assigned tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for this position will currently hold, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in accounting, plus two (2) years professional level accounting experience.

Completion of the Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting course is a plus.

Effective oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and Microsoft Office skills are required.

Experience preparing journal entries, accounting work papers, and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is a plus.
