Job Summary
The human resource generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, recruiting, training, employment programs, affirmative action, benefits management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.
 
Responsibilities
·     Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
·     Work with hiring managers to coordinate recruitment strategies to select, hire and onboard employees. Coordinates with college career coordinators to participate in career fairs.
·     Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.
·     Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
·     Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
·     Acts as an employee relations specialist.
·     Maintains employee personnel files.
·     Maintains, updates and distributes the employee phone list, org chart, and company map.
·     Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
·     Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner; updates and rewrites job descriptions.
·     Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
·     Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process. Maintains and distributes list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan. Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.
·     Administers COBRA for group health plans.
·     Administers and tracks FMLA leave.
·     Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel
·     Prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
·     Manages internal process for employee terminations and exit interviews.
·     Facilitates and/or provides training to the workforce.
·     Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
·     Prepares year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management
·     Provide functional guidance for administrative support needs
·     Responsible for company payroll: including but not limited to, monthly processing, reviewing third party tax reports, identifying legal and government regulations, working with benefit providers, and managing personnel requirements
·     Coordinates and communicates annual insurance and 401(k) benefit renewal and updates associated personnel payroll changes monthly
 
Qualifications
·     Bachelor's degree required
·     Minimum three to four years of experience in human resources required
·     Must maintain current on HR benefits and procedures
·     Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues
·     Attention to detail
·     Computer proficiency; Word, Excel, and Power Point

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Maintains necessary certifications as determined by management.
